capacitar in scotland
equipping - connecting - supporting
![]() Fàilte! Over the past 13 years, nearly 200 people across Scotland have done the training with founder Dr Pat Cane. We use this training regularly for our own personal well-being and spiritual nourishment. But in the spirit of 'healing ourselves - healing our world' many of us also offer well-being sessions in our local communities: in special schools for children with autism; with survivors of domestic abuse and rape; with refugees and people seeking asylum; with people living with mental health problems; in hospices and with people living with cancer and other life-threatening diseases; with midwives and pregnant mums; with carers; with adults with severe learning difficulties; in spiritual direction and on spiritual retreats; and in universities. We send out a regular newsletter (sign up if you would like to receive it) which provides information of local sessions, taster days and training. Capacitar International has a dedicated YouTube Channel with Pat Cane (and others) demonstrating many of the practices. A current focus of the global work is supporting young climate activists, and a new manual is available: "Empowering Strength & Resilience: Capacitar Self-Care Practices to Accompany Youth & Other Climate Activists in Our Climate Emergency" by Pat Cane and Sharon Duggan. If you would like a copy, please fill out the Scotland Contact Form. Capacitar Scotland has joined with the Queens Nurses Institute Scotland (QNIS) and COPE Scotland on a project funded by a grant from the COVID-19 Health Care Support Appeal. It has enabled us to offer the foundation training to 24 more Queens Nurses. This began in November 2021 and was completed in May 2022. A Wellbeing Resource Booklet has been put together and is downloadable here. During the lockdown for Covid-19 QNIS put together this most inspirational Leadership Dance, including Queens Nurses across the Lowlands, Highlands and Island of Scotland... you cannot help smiling at the highland cows joining in! |
"In my current post, as a teacher of autistic teenagers I have used Capacitar every week as part of the mental health and wellbeing curriculum. Simple holds (halo, head, shoulders and crown) and breath work have a very calming influence on the young people and staff." |
